Beauty tricks! Share and Learn!

Our daughter’s hair is very curly, and we recently started using “Miss Jessie’s” hair products we love them, but I could not find the shampoo or conditioner to go with her post-wash product. So, we use “SheaMoisture shampoo & conditioner”

How do you all take care of your kid’s hair? Your own hair? What products do you use?

Don’t take it personal!

We have decided to dedicate a page to cultural differences. When two people from different races or the same race but different cultural backgrounds are in a relationship, culture occupies a great place in their relations. They have to be open-minded and understand and respect each other’s culture without trying to impose their culture on one another.
When our daughter was a year and a half, I cut her hair so it could grow back nice and evenly. In Cameroon, it’s a tradition to cut off a baby’s first hair, called “baby hair,” to allow their hair to grow evenly, healthier, and stronger. One of my girlfriends was shocked and in disbelief that we had cut all her hair, hahaha! My initial thought was, “it’s none of their business that my kids get a hair trim or not”! Then it hit me instantly that I was dealing with cultural differences, and I should embrace them by sharing my own at the same time!
So, although I didn’t have to explain the reason behind our daughter’s haircut to them, I felt the need to do so because that is the only way for them to learn and respect my culture! The American culture is very different from the culture I was brought up in, so I have learned to respect my husband’s culture as long as it does not require me to disrespect or ignore my personal and cultural beliefs.
